RECREATION

 

Desk Staff [CURRENTLY FULL]

Responsible for greeting and checking in patrons, answering phone calls, providing information about UMBC Athletics and Recreation programming, including answering questions about campus. Also responsible for accurate documentation and checking out of equipment; laundry for Recreation, Physical Education, Intramurals, and Club Sports; tidying, cleaning, and re-racking weights; enforcing RAC rules and regulations; setup and breakdown of UMBC Recreation events, and thorough documentation of incident/accident reports.

 

Manager on Duty [CURRENTLY FULL]

Responsible for managing and operating the Retriever Activities Center (RAC). Duties include: opening and closing of the RAC and UMBC Stadium, enforcing RAC rules and regulations, frequents check-ins with student desk staff, first responder for any medical emergencies and incidents, thorough documentation of incident/accident reports, handling finances, and providing support to the full-time professional staff on duty. Computer and Microsoft Skills required.  Reports to the Recreation Manager.

AQUATICS

 

Lifeguard

Duties include, but are not limited to:  the supervision and safety of patrons, facility supervision,  maintain a clean environment in aquatics complex, test and evaluate water conditions in all pools, enforcing aquatics rules and regulations, first responder for any medical emergencies and incidents, and thorough documentation of incident/accident reports.

CLUB SPORTS

 

Club Sports Supervisor

Responsible for attending scheduled events, implementing policies set in place,  supervising fans, home/visiting teams, and officials for club sport events, setting up and breaking down of games/events, attending all required trainings, resolving conflicts and/or incidents that arise during the course of play on and off the field, thorough documentation of incident/accident reports, assess environmental concerns/playing conditions and maintaining open lines of communication with the EMT/Certified Medical Trainer on site and Assistant Director of Club Sports.

EMT/Certified Athletic Trainer

Responsible for attending scheduled events, treating, coordinating and providing medical care and well-being for both home and visiting team athletes, deciding if or when  an athlete can return to play, properly documenting all care/injuries and maintaining open lines of communication with the Club Sport Supervisor on site and Assistant Director of Club Sports.

*Required Certifications: Must be EMT and/or ATC certified in accordance with the state of Maryland.

FITNESS/WELLNESS

 

Group Fitness Instructor (General and Specialty Classes)

Responsible for creating and instructing enjoyable and safe group fitness classes for all participants.   Have an outgoing and positive attitude to make all feel welcome. Foster a sense of community within each class.  Successfully modify movements and workouts  to meet the needs of all class participants. Thorough documentation of incident/accident reports. Punctuality is a must, starting and ending class at designated times, as well as instructing for all scheduled classes and subbing as availability permits. Stay current with trends in the group fitness industry. Audition will be required during the interview.

*Required Certifications:
CPR/AED/First Aid (within 90 days of hire)
Group Fitness Certification: ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NASM or comparable for general group fitness classes-Specialty Group Fitness Certification: Zumba, Cycle, or Yoga.

Personal Trainer

Responsibilities include creating, implementing, and supervising safe, personalized workouts for RAC members. Design safe and effective 30 minute to 1-hour fitness programming for individual clients, adapting the training program to each person’s specific needs and abilities. Instruct clients in safe training principles and exercise techniques. Promote Personal Training through personal example and member interaction. Provide online consultations and virtual training services as needed. Help maintain a neat, clean and pleasant environment in the RAC. Thorough documentation of incident/accident reports. Stay current on fitness concepts and ideas. Keep detailed and updated records of sessions. Be reliable and punctual for each appointment. Outgoing personality to connect with our community.

*Required Certifications:
CPR/AED/First Aid (within 90 days of hire)

Personal Training Certification: NASM, NSCA, ACE, ACSM, or comparable

INTRAMURALS

 

Intramural Site Supervisor [CURRENTLY FULL]

Responsible for supervising officials and table workers for intramural events, setting up and breaking down of games/events, detailed event report, scheduling intramural events, attending all required training sessions, resolving conflicts that arise during the course of play, and maintaining open lines of communication with the Assistant Director of Intramural Sports, and thorough documentation of incident/accident reports.

Intramural Sports Official [CURRENTLY FULL]

Responsible for enforcing all intramural sports rules and policies, providing excellent customer service to participants, attending required training, accepting feedback from supervisors and  constantly looking to improve officiating skills, setting up and breaking down of games/events, conducting themselves in a professional and unbiased manner, and thorough documentation of incident/accident reports.
