RAC General Rules and Regulations
- An active UMBC Black & Gold / Red Card or Membership ID is required to enter the RAC.
- Using false identification is a violation of the UMBC Student Code of Conduct, individuals who present false identification or whose ID is presented by another person may forfeit recreation privileges. Fraudulent IDs will be confiscated where the owner will have to pick it up from University Campus Cards.
- Proper athletic attire must be worn at all times. Tops and shorts/pants, no clothing that can damage upholstered equipment, athletic non marking shoes with a full back and closed toe (No flip flops, sandals, crocs, boots, Uggs, dress shoes or bare feet).
- Open Recreation court usage is on a first come, first serve basis.
- Please be considerate of others. You may be required to limit the length of your workout or activity based on posted guidelines in each area.
- Facility availability subject to change due to approved scheduled events and activities
- Personal items, bags of any kind, or loose clothing should be secured in lockers located throughout the facility. Mini lockers are also available alongside the gymnasium courts and in pool locker rooms. All daily lockers must be vacated at the close of each day. Any locks left on daily lockers overnight will be removed at the owner’s expense.
- UMBC Recreation is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items within the Recreation facilities.
- UMBC Black and Gold/Red Card or Membership ID is required for equipment check-out.
- Participants are responsible for care of checked-out equipment. Lost or broken equipment will be subject to a replacement fee.
- Facilities may not be used for private instruction or to provide services not approved in writing by UMBC Recreation Professional staff, e,g. personal training, private swim lessons, private tennis lessons, etc.
- Smoking, vaping, tobacco, drugs, and alcohol are prohibited.
- Bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, and roller skates are prohibited.
- Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times.
- Photography of other participants without their explicit permission is strictly prohibited. (This includes those shown in backgrounds of ‘Snaps’, photos, etc.)
- Participants taking photos or videos with their cell phone for personal use must not interrupt or cause any discomfort/nuisance to others.
- Participants are required to use headphones while utilizing personal devices.
- Certified service animals are permitted.
- Competitive play is encouraged but profanity and unsportsmanlike conduct will not be permitted.
- Distribution of marketing messages and materials within all recreation facilities is prohibited without explicit permission and prior approval from a professional staff member.
- All incidents and injuries must be reported to the RAC Front Desk immediately.
PARTICIPATION IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. USERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR READING AND ADHERING TO PUBLISHED POLICIES AND POSTED SIGNS.
PARTICIPANTS THAT ARE CONSIDERED TO BE ACTING IN A WAY THAT CAN CREATE AN UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR THEMSELVES OR OTHERS MAY BE ASKED TO DISCONTINUE THE UNSAFE BEHAVIOR OR ACTIVITY.

- Proper athletic attire must be worn at all times. Tops and shorts/pants, no clothing that can damage upholstered equipment, athletic non marking shoes with a full back and closed toe (No flip flops, sandals, crocs, boots, Uggs, dress shoes or bare feet).
- To regulate and maintain safety, obey the weight room attendant at all times.
- Keep all personal items off of the weight room floor and clear of the machines.
- Wipe down machines after each use.
- Chalk is prohibited.
- If you are unsure how to use a machine, please ask the weight room attendant for assistance.
- Re-rack weights after each use. Do not lean weights against machines or walls.
- Dropping and slamming weights is prohibited.
- Spotting and collars are required on all barbell lifts.
- Report equipment malfunctions to the weight room attendant. Do not try to fix equipment yourself.
- Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the weight room.
- Please do not rest on machines between sets and limit your workout in a squat rack or on a platform to 30 minutes or less to allow others to access the equipment.

- To regulate and maintain safety, obey the Functional Fitness room attendant at all times.
- Keep all personal items off of the Functional Fitness room floor and clear from machines.
- Wipe down machines after each use.
- Chalk is prohibited.
- If you are unsure how to use a machine. Please ask the Functional Fitness room attendant for assistance.

- Scheduled classes have priority use of room.
- Report equipment malfunctions to the Functional Fitness room attendant. Do not try to fix equipment yourself.

- Equipment may be used on track as long as it is returned to the room after use.
- Machines and accessories must be used in accordance with manufacturer recommendations for safety purposes.

RAC Court Rules and Regulations
- An active UMBC Black & Gold / Red Card or Membership ID is required for equipment check-out. No guest passes accepted for equipment check out.
- Proper athletic attire must be worn at all times. Tops and shorts/pants, athletic non marking shoes with a full back and closed toe (No flip flops, sandals, Crocs, boots, Uggs, dress shoes or bare feet).
- Recreation court usage is on a first come, first serve basis.
- Personal items, bags of any kind, or loose clothing should be secured in lockers located throughout the facility. Mini lockers are also available between the men’s and women’s recreation locker rooms.
- Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times.
- All basketball games to 11 points (win by 2 points).
- Hanging on basketball rims or nets is prohibited.
- Smoking, vaping, tobacco, drugs, and alcohol are prohibited.
- Drinks must be in a spill-proof container.
- No food of any kind on the courts unless granted approvable by the Recreation Manager.
- Bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, and roller skates are prohibited.
- Competitive play is encouraged but profanity and unsportsmanlike conduct will not be permitted.
- All incidents and injuries must be reported to the RAC Front Desk immediately.
ALL RECREATION GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS WILL BE ENFORCED.

Fitness Studio A
- Bring your Black & Gold / Red ID card or Membership ID to class to be scanned by the instructor.
- Proper athletic attire must be worn at all times. Tops and shorts/pants, no clothing that can damage upholstered equipment, athletic non marking shoes with a full back and closed toe (No flip flops, sandals, Crocs, boots, Uggs, dress shoes or bare feet) unless otherwise directed by the instructor.
- Please refrain from using your cell phone once class begins and set it to silent.
- For your safety, please be on-time.
- Please keep the studio floor clear of personal belongings.
- Stereo system and studio equipment is solely for the use of approved group fitness classes/programs and physical education classes.
- No food or beverages, except water, are allowed in the group fitness studio.
- No equipment is to be brought into or out of the group fitness studio.
- This studio is only available for use during scheduled program times.
- Wipe down equipment after use.
Fitness Studio B
- Bring your Black and Gold/Red ID card or Membership ID to class to be scanned by the instructor.
- Proper athletic attire must be worn at all times. RAC Pool Rules and Regulations
- Swimmers may not enter the pool unless a lifeguard is on duty.
- An active UMBC Black & Gold / Red Card or Membership ID is required to access the pool.
- Only bathing suits will be permitted in the pool. All infants must wear an approved swimming diaper.
- Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by an adult. No running or horseplay permitted on the pool deck.
- Swimmers must use locker rooms to change into and out of appropriate swim attire. Changing in the pool area is not permitted.
- All persons should take a shower before entering the pool.
- All swimmers must enter the pool through the locker room.
- Lifeguards reserve the right to remove patrons from the pool and restrict the use of deep-water area to people according to swimming ability.
- When there are more than two swimmers per lane, circular lap swimming in counterclockwise direction is enforced.
- No food, drink, gum, or tobacco is permitted in the pool or pool area.
- Any person having an infectious disease is prohibited from using the pool.
- No diving allowed in the pool area.
- Swimmers may not push the limits on breath holding for time or distance.
- No use of the diving boards will be permitted without permission and proper supervision.

Track Rules and Regulations
*INDOOR TRACK IS 1/10TH OF MILE LONG*
- Enter track area with caution
- Track directions change by the day
- Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday – clockwise
- Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday – counterclockwise
- Proper attire must be worn at all times. Tops and shorts/pants, non marking shoes with a full back (No bare feet, no cleats).
- Open Recreation track usage is on a first come, first serve basis.
- Please be considerate of others. You may be required to limit the length of your workout or activity.
- Facility availability subject to change due to approved scheduled events and activities.
- Standing, horse play, spectating, and/or stretching are not permitted on the track lanes.
- Throwing or dropping items to or from the track is prohibited.
- Equipment or accessories from the Functional Fitness Room may be used on the track and must be returned after use.
- Personal items, bags of any kind, or loose clothing should be secured in lockers located throughout the facility. Mini lockers are also available between the men’s and women’s recreation locker rooms.

Locker Rooms and Restrooms Rules
- For the privacy of everyone, the use of audio and visual recording devices, including a cell phone camera, is strictly prohibited in changing areas, restrooms, or locker rooms.
- All Gender restrooms/changing areas are available in the RAC Lobby, adjacent to the RAC Courts, and outside the pool.
- A Lactation room is available on the first floor adjacent to RAC Court 2&3.
- No glass of any kind is permitted in locker rooms, restrooms, and changing areas.
- Personal items, bags of any kind, or loose clothing should be secured in lockers located throughout the facility. Mini lockers are also available between the men’s and women’s recreation locker rooms. All Daily lockers must be vacated at the close of each day. Any locks left on daily lockers overnight will be removed at the owner’s expense.
- Full size lockers are available to rent on semesterly or annual basis.
- In accordance with General Rules and Regulations, UMBC Recreation is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items within the Recreation facilities.
