Fall 2017 #GETACTIVE Challenge


UMBC is committed to the wellness of the overall campus. We understand the importance of making healthy choices that lead to a healthy lifestyle. As part of this commitment, we seek to create wellness programming, activities and resource that support and sustain emotional, environmental, financial, nutritional, physical health and wellness of the UMBC community. The #GETACTIVE campaign works in conjunction with Healthy Campus 2020 Framework, The Wellness Initiative and various campus wellness groups to become more intentional about our mission to create a campus-wide wellness movement.

#THEGETACTIVE Challenge encourages the UMBC community to engage in physical activities that promote the dimensions of wellness with rewards and incentives. #THEGETACTIVE Challenge card can be picked up  at the RAC Front Desk, OCSS, or the Recreation Office (RAC 321). Challenge Cards must be redeemed in RAC321. Details and FAQs regarding the challenge can be found below.

What activities do I need to complete to redeem the card?

To participate in the challenge completely, you must complete six activities: two group fitness classes, one fun run, one recreation special event, the fall wellness expo and post using the hashtag on an eligible social media platform.

Can faculty and staff participate in the challenge?

Yes, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in the challenge. Wellness Initiative events are eligible for stamps.

What prizes are available for redeeming the card?

#GETACTIVE t-shirts, water bottles, sweat towels and more.

What events are eligible for a Recreation Special Event?

Can I receive two stamps for attending the same Group Fitness class twice?

No, you must complete two different group fitness classes to receive two stamps.

When is the Wellness Expo this semester?

October 17th from 11-2p in the RAC.

When are the Fun Runs this semester?

The Monster Dash is on October 25th at 12:15pm.
The Turkey Trot 5k is on November 15 at 12:15pm.

Can I post on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook with the #GETACTIVE for a stamp?

Yes, these social media platforms are eligible for stamps.

Can I post on Pinterest, Snapchat, YouTube, or myUMBC with the #GETACTIVE for a stamp?

No, these social media platforms are not eligible for stamps.
